Lions and Tigers and Bears, OH MY!!
Yesterday, I had a day off, time with just my squidgy man and me (and our dear friends Cooper and Tracy). We packed up the truck with a days worth of goodies and headed to the Toronto Zoo. We spent the ENTIRE day there. The weather was beautiful (a definite change to the arctic weather out there today), it was quiet and the animals were all out and about to entertain us all. What else can you ask for? Beautiful weather, fresh air, lots of exercise, lots to see and a day spent together :-)
From under the sea:
and then we answered the dinner bell, and jumped in our safari jeeps to head home (ok, not really, but the boys certainly had fun pretending we did)

and we didn't go to THIS home, but what a cool place to hang out and tell a few tales of the people who did live here. (did I mention this cool place is educational too, who would have thought?)

A Weekend of Celebration
This weekend was spent with much family and friends and thoroughly enjoyed. We celebrated my brother in law and his dad's birthdays this Saturday. It was a delicious, relaxing, fun filled afternoon. Happy Birthday Brian and John!

An Artsy Saturday Morn....
While mom went shopping this morning for a busy birthday party this afternoon (pictures sure to follow), Dad and Squidgy stayed home, relaxed and apparently worked on some art projects...

Springwater Park!!
This is the fantastic spot my little buddy and I chose to spend our day yesterday. It's such a great place, lots of beautiful animals (in captivity I must mention, because they cannot survive in the wild for various reasons). It's a beautiful walk through Canadian wildlife.
Papa Bear, aka Honey!
Coyote Ugly, not this beauty...
Beautiful White Swans...
and played..

It is such a great place to spend time, the grounds are gorgeous, lots of trails, ponds, bridges, waterfalls, stone stairways...
and of course, we played...

Any Given Sunday...
Nope, no football here, but any given Sunday, you will find this family OUTSIDE. We reserve our Sunday for some together time, preferably outside when weather permitting, taking in that fresh spring air. Today, Daddy was taking in his spring air on the Golf course, so Squidgy and I headed to our favourite place, any guesses where that might be?

A Walk to Remember....
In January 2004, I met the man of my dreams, the brown eyed love of my life, I instantly fell in love, he could see my heart and soul like no others, he was exactly what I wanted...
Meet Tobey. He is my gentle blonde haired, brown eyed baby. Him and I have been through it all together and he's been by my side at all times. He was there through my divorce, car accident, a very scary night, new romance, new baby, new homes and through all this change, he has been one constant rock of strength and love.
In the summer of 2007 a new baby was born, our baby, Jackson. While I was pregnant, people would mention how I thought Tobey would do with a new baby and how I would have to get rid of him if he didn't adjust well. I knew, from the get go, Tobey would welcome Jackson to our family as we would, if I loved our new baby, he would love our new baby. Getting rid of Tobey was and would never be an option, I was convinced that if by chance, an unlikely chance, there was a problem, we were prepared to do do anything to make it work. Tobey is my family, he has been my whole family at times, he has stuck with me through everything and never would I turn my back on him, he is a loyal family member and if nothing else, I will return his loyalty.
As expected, all went well with the new baby, it was one lick and they were buds. As much as anyone tries I think and how much you tell yourself that you will not let the new baby interfere with your responsibilities to your pets, it happens and I can admit that. Tobey paid a price for my adjusting as a parent to a new baby. He didn't get walked as much as he should have, he ate table scraps when he never had before (droppings from the highchair), he didn't receive the same patience as I once had for my puppy troublemaker, he was ignored at times, as much as I hate to say it, it happened. The outfall, Tobey has gained some lbs, along with the rest of us mind you, but he has and let's face facts, Tobey's life is much, much shorter than ours and he just can't afford to be unhealthy for any time that he has with us. One day recently, I thought, why not share my lunches with my best friend, some alone time with just me and my boy and so, we took a walk, a walk to remember...
how he know's more about me than anyone on this earth, how he can see into my soul like no other, how much I love him and adore his big brown eyes and how much he counts on me. and so, we will walk.... together, because, well, life is better together :-)
